Here is where folks (I think you have to use this word when describing the folksy experience at this resort!) gather for checkers, greet Betty at the reception desk, enjoy a meal in the dining room overlooking beautiful Lake Cumberland or browse the gift. A well loved grill is just outside the front door it is recommended to bring additional outdoor seating if you intend to enjoy the outdoors - definitely do! The symphony of sounds as you are nestled in the woods is a true joy - not to mention the sight of deer frolicking just off the roadway is a delight! The entrance to Lake Cumberland is a winding 5 mile jaunt to the main lodge, Lure Lodge. Linens, towels, pillows, blankets (plus extras of each) are provided housekeeping is not included. The kitchen table is gigantic - easily accommodating 8 around the circular table. A perfect sized deck is just off the living room which happens to contain rather dated sofa and chairs. Having grown up frequenting Kentucky State Park Resorts, it has been nostalgic for this Mom to enrich our two boys' summers with some good old fashioned family fun! We reserved the "newer" Wildwood cottages which are described as a chalet style complete with fireplace, full kitchen (equipped with cookware, flatware, dishes, cups, coffee maker, ice maker/refrigerator and enough cabinet/counter storage) and, in our case, 3 bedrooms/2.5 bath 2 story unit overlooking a wooded area.
